Trusts
Trusts are an ideal way in which to pass assets to others whilst
retaining control and management of those assets. Besides ensuring
that beneficiaries receive the benefit from trust assets, a
well-structured trust can provide an efficient means of saving
tax.
We offer advice on the formation, interpretation and operation
of trusts, aiming to mitigate taxation where possible. We
administer a large number of well established trusts including
charitable trusts and those formed to support minor, elderly and
incapacitated beneficiaries.
We have a high level of expertise in this field and several of
our practitioners are members of the Society of Trust and Estate
Practitioners (STEP). We also have access to specialist financial
advice from IFAs and accountants should this be required.
Tax
We can advise on a range of methods to mitigate the burden of
Inheritance Tax and Capital Gains Tax to your estate. Many people
will be aware that it is possible for married couples with estates
over £500,000 to save £100,000 Inheritance tax by a simple
amendment to their Wills. Surprisingly, very few people do anything
about it. Tax planning and the family home has been the subject of
much discussion in the press and elsewhere and we can advise you
about the latest developments in this fast-changing area of the
law.
